General Line Teachers highlight demands

UDHAMPUR, May 6: Monthly meeting of Jammu Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum was held under the chairmanship of State general secretary Rakesh Singh and District president Udhampur Vivek Gupta, here today.
While speaking on the occasion, Rakesh Singh said that there was need of the hour to improve the financial status of the Government teachers by enhancing the salaries of highly qualified teachers and Masters at par with Central Government in order to attract best talent in the Education Department.
“B Ed should be made as compulsory educational qualifications for teachers as this would ensure only professional candidates to become teachers and their grades should be enhanced accordingly to their professional degrees,” he added.
Vivek Gupta reiterated the demand of JKGLTF to repatriate the SSA teachers from the posts of General Line Teachers to their original school of engagement who managed their transfers against the vacant posts of General Line Teachers
Other demands raised by the Forum, included qualification allowance for higher degrees, conduct of DPC of teachers on fast track basis before October of this year, handling over Mid Day Meal to some external agencies, 50 percent promotion of teachers through screening test, creation of Teachers Welfare Fund for teaching community, etc.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included Jatinder Singh, Pardeep Gupta, Ajay Mathur, Ajay Sharma,  Ramesh Sharma,  Sohan Sharma,  Ajeet Gupta, Rakesh Sharma,  Boney,  Om Sat;  Sarbjeet Singh,  Azad,  Sheikh Maehoob, Vikram Gupta and  Sanjay Gupta.
