Udhampur Master Plan

Sir,
Refer news item ‘Approved over one year back, implementation of Udhampur Master Plan  yet to begin ‘DE May 2, 2018.
One sign of good governance is that the Government acts on the policies and programmes that are framed for the welfare of masses. The non-implementation of policies indicates the lackadaisical or apathetic attitude of the Government of the day. Completing projects well on time saves the action plan from going haywire, and saves State exchequer from further financial burden which is created due to price hike in labour and raw material. The delay in execution of works erodes public trust in Government machinery and is responsible for increasing the suffering of masses. At a time when cities and towns are witnessing rapid expansion-horizontal and vertical, there is tremendous pressure on urban infrastructure to meet the needs of growing population. Non-redressal of grievances leads to unrest and uneasiness among people who at times are forced to take agitational recourse to persuade public authorities to meet their legitimate demands.
The broken roads, poor educational and healthcare facilities are symptomatic of mal-administration which a political party or parties can ill afford.
There should, therefore, be no delay in implementing Udhampur Master Plan.
Yours etc….
Harjeet Singh
