KATRA, May 7: Katra Police has foiled an attempt of smuggle liquor into the holy town and arrested a bootlegger in this connection.
The accused, identified as Kewal Singh son of Tez Ram of Narsoo, Tehsil Chenani in district Udhampur, presently putting up near Counter number 2, Katra, was apprehended
during naka checking near Asia Chowk Katra. Sixteen pouches of Desi whisky of JK Excise, 250 ml of each, were recovered from his possession.
The naka was laid by SHO Katra, Inspector Surinder Sambyal, under the supervision of Addl SP Katra, Naresh Singh, who has launched a special drive against the liquor and drug menace in the holy town.
In this connection, a case FIR number 88/2018, under section 188 RPC has been registered at PS Katra.
