JAMMU, May 7: Member Civil Society, Kishtwar, Shamsher Singh Bhandari while expressing concern over power curtailments and water crisis being faced by the people in the district especially in remote areas has turned the attention of concerned ministries towards these issues.
In a statement issued here, today, Bhandari turned the attention of Power Minster, Sunil Sharma towards the problem and urged him to take personnel interest in solving the same.
He said in various areas of the Kishtwar, Ramban and Doda districts the people have to travel long distance to fetch the water for drinking.
He expressed the hope that two ministers from the twin districts of Kishtwar and Doda will take personnel interest in development of the Chenab region which has remained neglected previously. He said despite having a lot of potential for power generation the proper steps were not taken in tapping the same for electricity generation. Bhandari said that as Power Minister belongs to the area so it is expected that he will pay full attention in resuming work on much talked about Rattle Power Project and also take up the construction of other power projects on Chenab river with Central Government which not only will boost the power generation in the State but also solve the unemployment problem in this region.
He also demanded that new water supply schemes needed to be taken up in hand for overcoming the water crisis faced by the people in remote areas of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts.
