NEW DELHI, May 8: Tracking a firm trend overseas, copper prices advanced by 0.26 per cent to Rs 460.35 per kg in futures trading today.
Besides, rising demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market too fulled the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June rose by Rs 1.20, or 0.26 per cent to Rs 460.35 per kg in business turnover of 918 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in far-month August traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 464.35 per kg in 5 lots.
Analysts said expanding of positions by participants in line with a firm trend overseas amid pick up in demand from consuming industries in the physical market, led to rise in copper prices at futures trade.
Globally, copper for delivery in three-month rose 0.6 per cent to USD 6,864 per metric tonne on the Londn Metal Exchange. (PTI)
