SRINAGAR, May 8: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today stressed on the need for factoring in heritage, history and cultural moorings of the State in craft designs and promotions to make these world class attractions.
The Chief Minister said this while reviewing the plans to showcase the crafts and art forms to a wider canvas of art lovers, buyers and markets.
Mehbooba Mufti said there is a dire need to celebrate the anonymous artisans, craft workers and other people and bring them to fore as the factors behind these immortal pieces of art from the State. This, she said, would immortalize these art forms for posterity and also attract more people to join these arts.
The Chief Minister directed tie ups with world class marketing platforms like Amazon etc. to create a wide and attractive marketing base for the products from the State. She also asked for undertaking research by concerned departments to know the customer choices and preferences and factor the same in the design pattern of these art products.
Mehbooba Mufti suggested curating constant designs, focusing on continuous R&D in designs and organising regular camps at the Craft Development Institute for the local artists and entrepreneurs to popularize the crafts and designs.
On the occasion, famed designer Manish Arora also gave his suggestions from making the brands from the State globally acceptable and attractive.
Minister for Tourism, Tassaduq Mufti; Commissioner-Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Shailendra Kumar and other officers were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, A delegation of representatives of SC/ST Confederation led by Inder Iqbal Singh called on the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti here today.
During the meeting, the delegation sought more outreach of schemes meant for these sections of society. They also invited the Chief Minister for the proposed conclave next month.
Ministers, Choudhary Zulf-kar and T. Dorjey were present on the occasion.
