Pensioners demand release of residual leave salary

JAMMU, Dec 14: J&K Pensioners Welfare Association today demanded release of residual leave salary (after 6th Pay Commission) for 577 retires of Government Transports Undertaking (GTU), which was converted into JKSRTC in the year 1979.
This was demanded by Sampat Parkash, State president of the association during a press conference here this afternoon.
He said that after implementation of 6th Pay Commission, 577 persons have retired as Government employees from J&K SRTC. He added that these employees have been given all the benefits to which Government employees are entitled to from time to time during their active services and also after their retirement. One of the matter “cash in lieu of leave salary” payable to retired GTU employees is however, pending for quite sometime now, he informed.
He also demanded release of pay arrears and also enhancement in the medical allowances from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month as per old age.
Parkash also demanded enhancement of pension on Central pattern after attaining age of 80 years.
He said that the National Policy on Senior Citizen’s 2011 Act was passed by the Parliament for senior citizens, which is applicable to 11 per cent enjoyed by the senior citizen except in the J&K.
He asked the Government to immediately pass the ordinance in the ensuing Assembly Session for implementation of this national policy.
He said that the association supports the demands of these retired employees of erstwhile GTU and urged the Finance Department to do the needful.
Among others present were Abdul Rashid Paray, general secretary, GTU Retired Employees and Abdul Qayoom Khan, president, Kashmir.
