JAMMU, May 1: Jammu Statistical Student’s Forum (JSSF) has appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take steps for introducing Statistics subject at school and college level.
Addressing a press conference, president JSSF, Dr Sandeep Singh Charak, brought into the notice of the people of Jammu in general and CM in particular that at present Statistics is taught in only three colleges and few Government schools in Jammu Division. He appealed the CM to take required steps for introducing this job oriented subject at school and college level.
Sandeep said that Government had started PG course at college level in 2006 and PG Statistics was proposed to be opened at Government MAM College and all the necessary formalities were completed but the Department failed to start the said course till date.
He also said that the contractual appointments for teaching posts should be made as per UGC guidelines and there should be preference for higher qualification and while making recruitment for these posts UGC recruitment rules should be strictly followed failing which JSSF would launch full fledged agitation.
