GULBARGA (KARNATAKA), May 10: Responding to Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s assertion that he is ready to take over as Prime Minister after 2019, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that Rahul Gandhi’s PM claim betrays dynastic arrogance and is a part of the Congress party’s mindset which has exploited the innocent masses over the last seven decades.
Addressing a press conference at the conclusion of the Karnataka Assembly election campaign here today, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Rahul Gandhi and other members of the dynasty are brought up with the belief that the office of the Prime Minister of India is a part of their family legacy. This itself, he said, is contradictory to the basic values of democracy.
Dr Jitendra Singh claimed that BJP, which is the world’s largest political party with 11 crore membership, introduced the culture of grassroots democracy in India. Quite in contrast to the Congress party, he said, the Prime Ministerial candidate in BJP is elected with the will of the people of the country and with the mandate of the Karyakartas of the Party.
If the essence of democracy is, Dr Jitendra Singh said, that any child born in any household can dream to grow up and become Prime Minister of India, then BJP is the only Party which has the capacity to live up to these standards. It is the BJP which gave India its most popular Prime Minister in the form of Narendra Modi even though he came from a humble background, he said and added that it is again the BJP which sent to the Rashtrapati Bhawan someone like Ramnath Kovind who came from an ordinary low caste background.
Describing Karnataka as a politically awakened State, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the huge response of the people during the election campaign and more so, at the rallies addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi makes it evident that the people of Karnataka have made up their mind to play an important role in India’s development journey led by Modi.
