Motorcyclist killed, 17 injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Dec 14: A motorcyclist was killed while seventeen others were injured in road accidents at Malpur Dummi and Purkooo areas of the city outskirts.
Police spokesman said that, a person identified as Rakesh Sharma, son of Jalo Ram of Gurah Pattan, was seriously injured, when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by an unknown vehicle at Malpur Dummi.
He was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
In another incident, seventeen passengers were injured when two buses collided head on at Purkhoo, falling under the jurisdiction of Kanachak Police Station.
The ill-fated bus bearing registration number JK02E-7225 was on its way to Akhnoor from Jammu, when it collided head on with another bus (JK02AU-4575), which was heading towards Jammu from Poonch at Purkhoo, causing grievous injuries to seventeen persons.
On getting information, locals and police party from Kanachak Police Station led by SHO Rajinder Sharma rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in police and other vehicles.
The driver of one bus was injured, while driver of another bus managed to fled from the spot, while, both the buses were seized and a case has been registered at Kanachak Police Station.
The injured have been identified as Bansa Singh, son of Faqir Singh, Rashpal, son of Jagdish Singh, Surinder Sharma, son of Madan Lal and Suresh Sharma, son of Milkhi Ram, all residents of Akhnoor, Ajeet Raj, son of Khajan Chand of Rajpura, Jung Bahadur, son of Om Parkash of Jandial, Ashok Kumar, son of Niku Ram of Toph Sherkhania, Rajni Devi, wife of Ravikant of Muthi, Reeta Langeh, daughter of Madan Singh of Bathera, Mohd Rafiq, son of Mohd Ismail and Balbir Singh, son of Baldev Singh, both residents of Janipur, Priti Sharma, wife of Darvinder Sharma of Pallanwala, Mukesh, son of Ashok Kumar of Ballian Bagh, Totu Ram of Pangyari, Kala Ram, son of Krishan Ram, Babu Ram, son of Billu Ram, both residents of Lehad, Akhnoor and Parshotam, son of Dev Raj of Gurha Pattan.
