JAMMU, May 11: Micro Finance and Financial Inclusion Department of J&K Grameen Bank (JKGB) in collaboration with Regional offices of Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua and Samba conducted 475 camps under “Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan” in 19 villages, covering Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri and Poonch districts.
Vipan Gupta, Senior Manager, Micro Finance & Financial Inclusion, highlighted that 11774 enrolments under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bhima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bhima Yojana (PMSBY) were done by the bank during these camps while the set target was 8651.
He informed that the bank opened the accounts of mostly unbanked population in the most backward areas. He highlighted that 100% saturation has been cover under all the three social security schemes in all 19 villages given by DFS.
Gupta said that the campaign will continue in a mission mode and is still aimed to promote social harmony, reach out to poor rural households, spreading awareness about Government welfare schemes, enhance livelihood opportunities and re-emphasize national priorities including cleanliness and strengthening of Panchayati Raj institutions.
“In order to enable 100% renewal of existing enrolments under PMSBY & PMJJBY, the SMS are sent to the customers on regular basis for maintaining a minimum balance of Rs 330 and Rs 12 only”, he said, adding, the bank will undertake a renewal drive to publicize and make subscribers aware of the need to keep sufficient balance in their bank accounts for auto debit of renewal premium.
