Court acquits cop, dry fruit merchant in NDPS case

JAMMU, Dec 14: Principal Sessions Judge Ramban M A Choudhary has acquitted Waqar Ahmed Ganai, a Police constable posted in CID and Showkat Ahmed, a dry fruit merchant of Qazigund, who were facing trial in NDPS case.
According to the police case, on February 24, 2010 Ramban Police intercepted a Maruti car bearing registration number JK02B/6850 coming from Srinagar and recovered two bags full of cannabis from the possession of Waqar Ahmad, a policeman posted in CID Wing of State Police and Showkat Ahmad of Qazigund.
After hearing Public Prosecutor G N Manhas appearing for the State whereas N A Pandit appearing for the accused persons, Principal Sessions Judge held that prosecution has miserably failed to bring home the charge against the accused.
Accordingly, Court acquitted the accused of the charge.
