JAMMU, May 12: Former Minister and MLA Priya Sethi today inaugurated an exhibition of paintings by Jyoti Gupta, titled ‘Music- n- Moods’ at Kala Kendra, Jammu.
A total of 18 paintings are put on display in the show. Inaugurating the exhibition, Priya said that painting is actually self discovery and every artist’s work speaks of his or her self-depiction. Paintings also reflect artists’ impression about the surroundings which makes a lot of difference in the lives of people. “Unlike many women who disassociate from their passion after getting involved into family affairs, Jyoti did wonders by pursuing painting which sets an example for women folk to follow”, she said.
Priya said Jammu has produced finest of artists, painters, sculptors, actors and musicians besides singers and writers that makes us proud of being from this soil. Appreciating the works of Jyoti Gupta, Priya said her work not only rejuvenates mind but also soothes the soul. She wished her a great success and hoped that her work will be displayed around the globe.
According to Jyoti Gupta, “Music rejuvenates mind and soul. Every art piece, gives the onlooker a moment to pause and rely on senses and feelings of artist through these works. The art works displayed in the exhibition transform the visual rhythm of strokes and colours into melodies.”
The present show is the first solo exhibition by artist Jyoti Gupta showcasing the collection in acrylic and oil colours and inspired by ‘Music’ and ‘Sounds’. The exhibition provides unique opportunity for a sensual journey into the emotive values of the world of art and music. In her harmonious and melodious art works one can see the possibilities of future artist to work in expressionist strokes and colours.
