Ensure adequate supply of power during summer, quick redressal of grievances: Sunil

JAMMU, May 13: Minister for Power, Sunil Sharma today directed the officers to put in coordinated efforts to ensure that the people get the requisite supply of electric power during the summers, so that they do not face any inconvenience and also solve the issues and grievances of the people within the shortest possible time.
The Minister was addressing officers during a series of review meetings of the Power Development Department held here today. Chief Engineers and senior officers of the department were also present.
The Minister also directed the officers to speed up the pace of work on the restoration of PDD installations at grid stations so that the power pilferage is checked.  He also directed the officers to strengthen the grievance cell in EM&RE Divisions so that the grievances of the people are redressed and necessary feedback is also received about the implementation of the schemes and the services being provided to the people.
The Minister called for regular monitoring of the projects in power sector to ensure their timely completion and judicious utilization of resources. He asked the concerned officers to regularly monitor the works on ground so that targets are optimally achieved.
He also stressed on the proper functioning of Meter Readers of the concerned areas. He also said that PDD is committed to provide seamless electricity to the public and it is the duty of officers to collect the revenue.
The Minister also reviewed the present position of power supply and pace of work on various ongoing PDD projects. He stressed on augmentation of power infrastructure and strengthening of the system, which he said is vital to realize the dream of uninterrupted power supply in the State.
He asked the officers to follow the already notified curtailment schedule and avoid unscheduled power cuts especially in the summers and provide adequate supply of power to them. He also directed to re-examine all feeders and adding more feeders into the system wherever it is necessary to minimize snapping of high-voltage power lines.
To ensure speedy repair of electric transformers, the Minister called for increasing the capacity of the department’s workshops. He said steps are afoot to increase the human resource of the Department to better cater to rising demands. He also directed all the EXNs to create WhatsApp groups of the divisions of the department to keep a real-time check on power cuts in the State.
Sunil Sharma also visited Workshop of PDD and instructed the officers to have the buffer stock ready in case of any emergency.
