KISHTWAR, May 13: Various trade union leaders, social and political activists of Kishtwar today demanded that the local youth of the district be given preference in employment in Pakal Dul Power Project, the work of which has been awarded to AFCON and Jai Parkash Associate Companies.
The meeting, which was chaired by Civil Society member Shamsher Singh Manhas among others was addressed by trade union leader, Farooq Ahmed Tappal. It expressed the hope that the two companies keeping in view the growing unemployment of the youth in this hilly belt will give preference to them in the jobs besides allotting the small works to local contractors to provide them job avenues.
The meeting also assured full cooperation to the management of the two companies for the speedy completion of the power project to meet the growing demand of power in the State.
