JAMMU, Dec 15: Pilgrimage to holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji today broke the previous record of 1.01 crore.
Last year, 1,01,15,637 yatris had performed darshan at holy cave shrine of Goddess Vaishno Devi, which was an all time record so far. The figure was surpassed today at 5.30 pm, official sources said.
Amit Aggarwal, a resident of Bada Bazaar in Bareily district of Uttar Pradesh became the pilgrim, who broke the previous year’s record, sources said.
Total pilgrimage till late tonight this year has now gone up to 1,01,18,252, about 3000 more than the total of 2011.
With a fortnight still left this year, the Shrine Board authorities were expecting the pilgrimage to be around 1.04 crore.
This was for the second consecutive year that pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine has crossed 10 million.
