Remedial classes

Sir,
The School Education Department is making many interventions to  improve educational standards, particularly in Government schools.  Most of these interventions fail as these are applied without application of mind and expert opinion.
One such intervention is “the Remedial classes” aimed at helping the students who are weak in  studies. If it had been implemented in a proper way it would have proved a boon but it has become a bane. The intervention is aimed at helping weak students by arranging extra classes in extra time. But, the scheme has ended up in confusion as it is being implemented arbitarily.
A student, suppose of 6th class who has not fared well in the examination is supposed to attend the remedial classes to help him to pass the class in supplimentary examination. But the irony of the fact is that there are cases where he is to attend th 7th class  during regular classes and 6th class classes during remedial classes. It has led to the confusion because a weak student who is not able to fare well in one class, how he can cope up with the pressure of two classes. It has ended up in making him proverbial “Dhobi Ka Kuta, na Ghar ka na Ghat ka”. If the scheme is to be made result oriented, the student shall be taught with full focus on his class of failure before the supplementary examination. If he or she shows improvement, he/she should be promoted. Otherwise, detained to make him beneficial for himself and the society. Any such intervention shall be result oriented.
Yours etc…
