JAMMU, Dec 16 : The Government has earmarked Rs. 80 lakh for construction of additional 6-room including laboratory room, library, varandha, examination hall besides two toilet blocks at Government High School Digiana under Rashtriya Madyamic Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA).
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering after laying foundation stone of additional infrastructure at Govt High School, Digiana, here today.
Chief Education Officer Natha Rama Dingra, Chief Education Officer Reasi Tarseem Lal, Principal Swantarta Sharma, and other senior officers of R&B, PHE, PDD, and the concerned school were present on the occasion.
Mr. Bhalla said Government is making all out efforts to provide all infrastructure facilities to the students in every nook and corner of the State so that the children don’t face any inconvenience in getting the quality education. He said the Government is making efforts to open new schools at a distance of 1-km so that no children particularly in the remote areas would remain without education.
Mr Bhalla said that School Education Ministry has launched door-to-door campaign to identify those children who have not been registered with the schools of the respective areas due to financial constraints. He said that in this regard Government has to bear Rs 3000 budget of each child for providing them free uniform, scholarship, fee and books. He called upon the parents to send their wards in schools so that they would become good citizens of the country.
To reduce pressure on 12 Government Higher Schools in his home constituency, Mr. Bhalla said a detailed project report has been submitted to School Education Ministry for upgrading the Government High School Digiana so that the students would get higher standard education at their doorstep from next year session.
He said Government institutions have well qualified staff and better infrastructure, adding that many Government run schools achieved cent percent results in Board examinations. He said the Government was also providing scholarships, free uniforms and books to the children belonging to the weaker sections of the society.
Earlier, the Minister also kicked the upgradation works of five lanes and drains of Shastri Nagar Ward No. 22, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 12 lakh. He asked the JMC to complete the works within stipulated time frame for the benefit of general masses.
Interacting with the locals, Mr. Bhalla said Government has sanctioned Rs. 4.78 crore for construction of Receiving Station and Rs. 3.37 crore for parking slot near Cremation Ground Shastri Nagar. He said that both the projects would be dedicated to the public by January next year. He said 6-lane Satwari-Kunjwani road is under progress on war-footing and would also be completed by March next year.
