Balbir urges H&UD Minister to provide land for Corp offices

Srinagar, May 23: Led by Vice Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes Development Corporation Limited,  Balbir Ram Rattan, a team of the officials of this Public Sector Enterprise, called on Minister of Housing & Urban Development ,  Sat Sharma, at Srinagar and handed over a representation containing request for providing government land on concessional rates for setting up of Corporation’s own offices in both the capital cities of the State, Srinagar and Jammu.
The representation mentioned that the Corporation is a non profit making entity meant only for the socio-economic and educational upliftment of the weaker sections of the society and stands declared as a “Service Institution”, not engaged in any commercial activity and has no means of its own to generate its resources for creation of assets etc. The offices of the Corporation are housed in private buildings, both at Srinagar and Jammu, for which there is substantial spending on account of rent.
The representation also mentioned that the matter for purchase of land was discussed in 38th meeting of Board of Directors held recently under the chairmanship of Minister for Social Welfare, wherein, it was resolved that the  management shall take up the matter regarding purchase of suitable land, both at Jammu and Srinagar with Jammu / Srinagar Development Authorities, through Housing & Urban Development Department.
The team made a request to the Minister to issue the necessary directions to Jammu/Srinagar Development Authorities to provide suitable land at concessional rates within the municipal limits in favour of the Corporation.
The Minister, Sat Sharma, assured to look into the matter sympathetically.
Besides Vice Chairperson, the Corporation team comprised of FA/CAO, Mohammed Yaseen, Manager Finance, Anil Gupta, and Accountant, Kashmir Division, Babar Bashir Wani.
