JAMMU, May 23: Y V Sharma, president J&K Professionals’ Congress & former president Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu has lambasted the Modi Govt on its policy for the price of petrol & diesel.
“Claiming to have transparency in its policies, the Modi Govt. is indulging in organized and surreptitious loot in oil prices. There is huge hue and cry in the country but the Central Govt is issuing ambiguous statements from time to time,” he said in a statement, issued here today.
Alleging that the Union Government and BJP ruled State Government were extorting huge amounts in the form of excise duty and VAT, Sharma explained that the Petroleum prices were deliberately not being brought under the purview of GST. “The result is that the prices of petrol in some States have crossed Rs 85 per liter and that of diesel Rs 75/lit. The Govt fails to understand that the oil is the back bone of our economy and it affects the price of every commodity,” he said and demanded that the Oil prices should be immediately brought under GST regime.
Y V Sharma also had a dig at the Kashmir policy of the Govt and the rising tensions on IB and LoC resulting in the deaths of innocent civilians and Security personnel. He was of the view that no Govt would tolerate this type of situation for a long time. Flip flop policies and the lackadaisical attitude of the Govt must be substituted by firm and decisive action, asserted Sharma.
Sharma demanded that victims of the unprovoked Pak firing must be suitably compensated and their safety and security be ensured on priority basis.
