Notorious thief arrested with stolen gold ornaments

JAMMU, May 24: Gandhi Nagar police solved two theft cases with the arrest of a notorious burglar and recovery of stolen gold ornaments worth several lakhs.
As per police sources, on April 19 this year, a complaint was lodged by Surjit Kour, wife of late Mohan Singh of Nanak Nagar with Police Station Gandhi Nagar stating that some unknown persons entered into her house by breaking the doors and decamped with gold ornaments worth several lakhs.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 88/18 under Section 454 and 380 RPC was registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station rounded up several suspects and finally arrested the thief.
The accused has been identified as Sadam Hussain, son of Abdul Hamid of Gurmal Kashtigarh, district Doda.
During further questioning, it came to fore that the accused was also involved in a burglary case registered under FIR Number 129/17 under Section 379 RPC with Police Station Gandhi Nagar.
On his disclosure, police recovered the stolen 10 tolas gold ornaments worth over Rs 3 lakh. The recovered items include 6 gold rings, 1 necklace, 1 gent’s bangle, 1 mangal sutra, 3 pairs of ear rings, 2 pair of tops and 1 pair of jhumka.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia along with SI Kali Charan arrested the notorious thief under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
