SRINAGAR: Suspected militants made an abortive bid to attack a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp with a hand grenade in the downtown Srinagar late Thursday night when people of the area were offering ”Taravahe prayers” in mosques, official source said.
About half-a-dozen vehicles were damaged due to the impact of the blast. The sources said the suspected militants hurled a hand grenade towards CRPF camp at Braripora, Safa Kadal in the downtown.
However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded at a distance causing damage to vehicles, parked in the area.
Panic gripped the area after residents heard the loud explosion. No one was injured in the attack. Police has registered a case and initiated proceedings. (AGENCIES)
