UDHAMPUR, May 25: 26 sheep and four goats were charred to death when an animal shed along with a house were gutted in accidental fire at Ramnagar, here last night.
Even as there was no loss of human life, 30 animals were charred to death when fire broke out in the house of Shankari Devi, wife of Ishwar Dass, residence of Lead, last night about 12:45am.
The house was completely gutted in the accidental fire and several valuable household goods, jewelry and cash also reduced to ashes.
Cause of fire could not be ascertained.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, an Alto car bearing registration number JK14B-7539, caught fire under mysterious circumstance at Hospital road Udhampur. On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames.
After hectic efforts, the fire was brought under control but till then the car got completely gutted.
There are also reports of massive fire in forest area near Rehambal village Kupad.
