JAMMU, May 26: President of College Teachers’ Association (CTA), Prof DS Manhas, today met Minister of Higher Education, Imran Raza Ansari, and discussed various issues regarding college fraternity.
He raised the issue of implementation of 7th Pay Commission to the college teachers as per UGC recommendations, besides implementation of UGC guidelines which includes creation of post of professor in colleges and enhancing the age of superannuation of college teachers to 62 at par with the State universities.
Prof Manhas also raised other demands such as transparent transfer policy, recognition of college teachers in cluster universities\change of nomenclature of PTI, establishment of separate directorates of Higher Education for Jammu and Kashmir divisions, placement of Assistant Professors and appointment of in-charge Principals on seniority basis.
The Minister gave a patient hearing and regarding enhancement of age of superannuation of college teachers, the Minister asked the Director Colleges to process the case in consonance with the UGC regulations. He further directed him that the post of Professor be created and incorporated in the recruitment rules as per the UGC guidelines.
