NOWSHERA, May 26: Former MLC and chief spokesman of PCC Ravinder Sharma conducted tour of Nowshera area of district Rajouri and took stock of the problems of the people and addressed series of meetings.
While addressing meetings Sharma said that he has been apprised by the people that there is a draught like situation prevailing in several areas of Nowshera-Sunderani and the public is facing acute scarcity of drinking water. Besides, the long scheduled and unscheduled power cuts has added more to the miseries of people.
He said it is unfortunate that all sorts of developmental activities are standstill and criticized Government for its failure to carry forward the developmental works started by the previous Govt. He said that many water supply schemes have become defunct or semi-functional due to the reasons not known by the general public and the Govt has failed to provide even the basic amenities of life. The BJP led Govt is busy to count its 4 -years achievements and spending huge amount for the advertisement of the same. It would be better if this amount is spent for providing basic facilities of life to the people, he asserted.
Ex-MLC demanded that the water and power supply in Nowshera-Sunderbani areas should be streamlined in view of scorching heat and if necessary, more water takers be pressed into service. He also expressed concern over the devastating fire in the forests of Nowshera-Sunderbani including Kalidhar Range and demanded that concerned Department should explore all possibilities to control the fire, immediately.
Prominent among others who spoke in the meeting included Som Raj Heer, Rajinder Singh, Isher Singh, Baisakhi Ram, Sat Pal Sharma, Ramji Dass, Tilak Raj, Dayal Singh, Chander Prakash and others.
