SRINAGAR, May 26: Imran Raza Ansari, Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Higher Education, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan today.
Ansari discussed with Governor several major issues relating to the management of the higher education sector particularly the functioning of the University of Kashmir and some matters relating to Jammu University.
Governor re-iterated concern regarding the crucial responsibility of the Higher Education Department to ensure the provision of quality educational facilities for students at all levels, as only such advancement could promote the future growth and development of the State.
Governor advised the Minister to ensure initiation of the required measures to give impetus to the organization of sustained sports activities in all the colleges and universities in the State.
Brig. Vishal Aggarwal, Chief Engineer, Border Roads Oganisation also called on Governor and briefed him about the to-date status of the different road projects being executed by the BRO.
Governor stressed the timely repair and completion of all maintenance works on the Kangan-Gund-Sonamarg-Neelgrath axis. Keeping in view that the forthcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra commences on 28th June, Governor desired Brig. Aggarwal to have that road repaired by 20th June.
While lauding the good work being done by the BRO in developing and maintaining the road network in the difficult and hilly terrain of Jammu and Kashmir, the Governor emphasized the crucial importance of the various construction works being completed strictly within the envisaged time schedules and also maintained satisfactorily.
