Governor, Farooq grieved over Siachen, Bhaderwah deaths

JAMMU, Dec 17: Governor N. N. Vohra and Union Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah today expressed grief over the tragic loss of lives of six valiant soldiers in a snow avalanche in the Siachen and death of 8 passengers in Bhaderwah accident.
The Governor spoke to Lt. Gen. K. T. Parnaik, Northern Army Commander, to convey his deep sympathy to the families of those who had lost their lives. The Governor observed that such tragic incidents should remind one and all of the extremely challenging conditions in which Defence Services personnel were maintaining a constant vigil to protect the country’s territorial integrity, and even laying down their lives in the service of the nation.
The Governor expressed deep concern and dismay over the recurring loss of lives from sustained road accidents in certain areas of the State. In this context, he recalled the important discussions held at Raj Bhawan with key experts from the Government of India, several months ago. The Governor hoped that the DGP will urgently enforce the strictest possible measures to reduce the incidence of tragic accidents.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah while expressing grief over the Bhaderwah accident said that it must be a painful moment for all the family members of the deceased. He conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and asked for best possible medical care to the injured.
