ICCR presents ‘Mehfil-e-Mousiqi’

JAMMU, May 31: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Ministry of External Affairs Government of India, under its monthly Horizon Series presented a unique musical evening ‘Mehfil-e-Mousiqi’ featuring one of the most celebrated singer of the state of J&K Jitender Singh at KL Sehgal Hall, Abhinav Theatre Complex, here today.
On the occasion, Regional Director ICCR J&K Balwant Thakur informed that with the showcasing of this unique ‘Mehfil-e-Mousiqui’ ICCR has completed 100 local, national and International programmes in Jammu.
Introducing Jitender Singh, Balwant said that this proud artist of Jammu brought laurels from world over for his unique style of singing versatility.
First empanelled singer of ICCR from Jammu he has successfully held his concerts in England, USA, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Oman and Mauritius.
Jitender Singh is a ‘Top Grade’ ghazal artist of All India Radio since the year 2003 and has performed in almost all national occasions at All India Radio and Television. Jitendra Singh is an established ghazal, bhajan and sufi singer of India and have performed worldwide.
Influence of different Gharanas (styles) and maestros has helped Jitendra to evolve a style that is unique. This sets him apart from other artists.
He opened today’s musical evening with his one of the popular Ghazals ‘Log Bahre Hain Inehen Dil Ki Sunaya Naa Karo….. and enthralled everyone in the audience.
This was followed by his another popular Ghazal number ‘Mehfil Main Baar Baar..’ and mesmerized with his soulful singing styles.
The programme touched the ultimate height when Mr Singh touched the public chord by transporting them to the world of Dogri folk and sang ‘Khue Te Khdotiye Tu Mal Mal Par Ni Toh…’
He was accompanied by the most accomplished musicians of the state which included Sammy Masih (Tabla), Amarjeet Singh (Violin) and Jagmit Singh (Gitar)
