RAJOURI, June 4: Pressing for special package to curb water crisis in Rajouri district, Member Legislative Council & senior BJP leader, Advocate Vibodh Gupta has said that water is most essential thing for which Government need to draft a comprehensive policy to mitigate the problem of water shortage.
Various deputations from Argi, Kalakote, Kotranka, Thanamandi, Manjakote and Doongi areas approached Vibodh Gupta and apprised him about water crisis in their respective areas. These people highlighted the urgent need of restoration of water supply in their areas so that to mitigate the problems.
Endorsing the demands of the people, MLC said that many natural water sources in Rajouri district have dried up which has created crisis of water in most of the areas. He said that even around Rajouri town, various natural water sources have dried up and same is the condition in Doongi, Manjakote, Grati, Keeri,
Kalakote, Thanamandi and Kotranka areas where people are facing problems due to drying up of water sources.
Suggesting comprehensive policy for mitigating the water crisis, MLC said that Rajouri remained neglected in past but now they are having hope on present dispensation and Government is also serious to mitigate their problems. He said that these people have faced many miseries in past and now they are getting relief from many problems yet water problem is there and they want its solution on permanent basis. “We need to make a compressive policy to address this issue particularly in Rajouri”, Vibodh said, adding that a special package is required for addressing this issue in Rajouri.
Meanwhile, MLC suggested Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri to conduct a survey of all the areas where natural water sources have dried up so that stress is given on priority to those areas. He also pressed upon Public Health Engineering Department to operate Toll Free Numbers and respond to the grievances of the public.
