SRINAGAR, June 4: Police arrested a burglar and recovered stolen property worth lakhs of rupees in Sopore town of Baramulla district today.
A Police spokesman said that on May 19, Police Post Putkha received a written complaint from Auqaf Committee Hygam regarding burglary of Local Masjid Shareef of Hygam. A case FIR No. 39/2018 U/S 457, 380 RPC was registered and investigation was started.
He said during the course of investigation, Sopore police zeroed on one suspect Altaf Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Krankshivan Sopore, who during questioning confessed the commission of crime.
“During his confession, it was also learnt that another person Nazir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Haritar Sopore (Still Absconding) is also involved in the crime. On his disclosure, stolen property worth lakhs of rupees was recovered. More arrests and recoveries are also expected.
