JAMMU, June 5: Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ch. Vikram Randhawa, today kick-started up gradation work of cremation ground, Bhour Camp, in Gandhi Nagar Assembly Segment.
Speaking on the occasion, Randhawa said that the people of the area have brought to his notice about the deteriorated condition of the cremation ground. Randhawa said that the cremation grounds are the last stations of the journey of our lives and the places should be kept neat, clean and with all facilities required.
Terming the cremation grounds as places of utmost importance, Randhawa said, that scores of people gather at the funeral of a person who leaves this world in almost all the seasons of the year and as we witness different weather cycles the facilities needs to be up graded accordingly. Referring to the present soaring temperature the MLC said that people need a shelter to stand under to save themselves from the heat and similarly they require shelter if it is raining. “Anyone can die anytime and we have to cremate him or her ignoring all weather conditions”, Randhawa added.
He directed the authorities to carry out the work on priority basis that includes construction of platforms, pathways, repair of sheds, shelter shed for people etc. He said that the repair would be carried out on an estimated cost of Rs 5 lakh and if required more funds will be provided.
The people of the area complimented the MLC for his sincere efforts for the up gradation of the cremation ground and assured him full support to the Bharitya Janata Party in the coming future.
