REASI, June 6: Due to scorching heat and alleged mismanagement of the PHE Department, the water crisis has deepened in various parts of this district thus forcing the people to come out on streets to lodge protest.

The residents of Bharakh area of Pouni tehsil today held a strong protest against PHE Department over its failure in providing adequate supply of drinking water. Amidst raising of slogans against the authorities, the protesting villagers, including women and elderly persons, blocked the Reasi- Shivkhori road for hours.
They did not allow any vehicle to move from either side and the protest continued for more than three hours. The protesting villagers alleged that they were without water supply for the several days but the PHE authorities were least bothered about their grievance in this regard.
The protest was called off only after Tehsildar Reasi personally visited the spot and assured to get their problem solved. The protestors threatened to intensify their agitation in case the problem is not addressed on priority basis.
Pertinent to mention that the water crisis has arisen in all parts of the district, including Reasi town, Mahore, Bathoi and other areas. The situation is worst in remote villages of Reasi district as locals have to go miles to collect water for drinking.
