JAMMU, June 6: Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners’ Association, Jammu province today demanded the Government to disburse benefits of 7th Pay Commission (PC) in advance.
The issue was discussed during a meeting of the association held here under the chairmanship of its president, YS Jamwal. The leaders of the association expressed anguish over the Housing and Urban Development and Finance Department for not resolving the issue till date despite their repeated requests.
The speakers also criticized both the departments for not accepting the request of J&K Bank’s Business Department to grant permission to them to disburse benefits of 7th PC in advance from their own resources under the provisions of Government Order No 18-F of 2012 dated 18-01-2012, which, they said, is utterly unjustified step.
“Heads of both the concerned departments should understand the burning problems of old age, sick and senior citizen pensioners, and not sit like a mute spectator on file”, they said, adding, it would be highly obligatory for them if speedy process is initiated hand to hand in sanctioning of requisite funds and depositing the same in J&K Bank Head Quarter Srinagar at the earliest, enabling disbursement of benefits before Eid festival.
They appealed Ministries of Housing & Urban Development Department and Finance Department to expedite the process of sanctioning 7th Pay Commission funds and deposit the same in J&K Bank at the earliest before Eid so that pensioners could celebrate this festival with pomp and show.
