Basic facilities for all Govt’s priority: Bhalla

JAMMU, Dec 18: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said that the Government has prepared a comprehensive plan to develop every area of the State with improved basic amenities like safe drinking water, road connectivity, health, education, besides better lanes and drains.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the residents of Rampura Ward No. 23 after launching Rs 12 lakh development works, here today.
Mr. Bhalla said that the Government was making all out efforts to redress all the development related problems of the people on priority basis, adding that there was no constraint of funds to meet the improved basic amenities of the people. He said instructions have been issued to all the officers to reach the people and assess their   development needs.
The Minister called upon the people to personally monitor the ongoing development works and its quality in their respective areas. He said the Government has resolved to provide durable assets to the people. He asked them to protect public property in their respective areas.
Listing the measures taken by the Government to improve the basic amenities in his home constituency, Mr. Bhalla said Government has spent Rs 250 crore on commissioning of 25 deep drill tubewells including laying of water supply in periphery areas, besides newly developed colonies. He said the Government has spent Rs. 5 crore for providing relief to the people from uninterrupted power supply by installating 50 MVA transformer at Gladni in Narwal.
The Minister said Government has earmarked Rs 4.78 crore for construction of 133/11 KVA receiving station at Shastri Nagar, adding that the project would be completed by January next year. He said after its completion  the  power supply scenario would   improve  in Shastri Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Gangyal, Nai Basti and some areas of Digiana and Rani Talab areas.
For facilitating the people of Shastri Nagar, Mr. Bhalla said, the Government has earmarked Rs. 3.37 crore for construction of parking slot on Landoi Choi nallah near   Cremation Ground. He said people have faced lot of hardships due to non-availability of such facility in the area particularly during their visit  to Cremation Ground.
