JAMMU, June 11: Expressing disappointment over the Chief Minister’s announcement of releasing Rs 143 crore for one month salary of the SSA teachers, that too without 7th Pay Commission benefits, Jammu Kashmir ReT Teachers Forum has announced to go ahead with its protest calendar.
“We were very curious that CM Mehbooba Mufti will announced the Eid gift for the 41000 SSA teachers but at the end of her meeting with the Education Minister and the Finance Minister, she announced Rs 143 crores only,   one month salary without 7th Pay Commission benefit, which is big joke with the SSA teachers,” said Jahangir Alam Khan, general secretary of J&K ReT Teachers Forum, in a statement.
He lamented that the teachers are on strike but the Government was befooling the cadre by releasing the salary without Pay Commission for the month of May while the salary of February month is still pending for no reasons.
He reiterated that the already given protest calendar will remain unchanged and on June 13, protest dharnas will be held in front of the concerned Deputy Commissioner’s office.
On first day of their four-day protest calendar, the SSA teachers held protest demonstrations outside the respective ZEO offices. They were demanding benefits of  7th Pay Commission and  de-linking of SSA salaries from MHRD to State budget.
Keeping in view of the demands,  CM chaired a high level meeting with Education Minister, Finance Minister along with top officers of Education Department and announced releasing of Rs 143 crores for the salary of SSA teachers.
