VIJAYPUR, June 13: Former Minister and JKPCC general secretary Manjit Singh visited the border villages and asked the Prime Minister Narender Modi to step down if he can’t protect lives and properties of border residents.
He visited border village like Chak Paras in Panchayat Rangoor (Ramgarh) situated on extreme border. Expressing his concern over repeated violation of ceasefire by Pakistan, he said, the enemy country has not kept its promises which it made during DGMO or local sector commander level meetings on the International Border.
“The Pakistan, which needs to be taught a tough lesson, has become aggressive because of failure of the Modi Govt to deal with the aggression of the neighbor,” he said and added that the losses suffered in recent years were more than India suffered in 1971 or 1965 wars with Pakistan. “It shows that the Government has completely collapsed and hence, it has lost faith of the people to continue,” he alleged.
“On ground, there is anger among the people against the Government, which has failed to protect lives of the civilian or security personnel. The failed policies have made the weak enemy stronger,” he said and accused the Modi Government of compromising the national security.
The former Minister claimed that had Congress been in Government, the country would have taken strongest step to teach Pakistan a lesson. He also grilled the present Government for denying five marla plot to each border family.
“The Government propaganda to construct community bunkers is not workable. The people want plots in safer places not community halls. A wrong impression is being created that people have now changed their demand. Govt must fulfill its promise by providing five marla plots to each border resident family. If they cannot do so, they should step down and contest fresh election in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
