Minor collision between security force, civil vehicles leads to stone pelting

RAMBAN, June 14: Minor collision between the security force and civil vehicles led to stone pelting in tehsil Banihal, in which SHO, Head Constable of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and several others got injured.
As per police sources, at around 1100 hours, CRPF convoy was on its way to Jammu from Srinagar, when a convoy vehicle got slightly touched with a jeep near Chareel.
CRPF personnel and two civilians traveling in the jeep had some altercation and the convoy got stopped on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Civil vehicles also got stranded on the highway.
“Some miscreants started pelting stones on the CRPF convoy”, sources said, adding that SHO Banihal Inspector Aejaz Wani, SPO Khushi Mohammad, SPO Kuldeep Singh, SPO Sher Singh, CRPF HC Satpal Singh of 40th Battalion and a civilian namely Raees Ahmed, son of Abdul Latief of Lamber received injuries in the stone pelting.
Police team led by SDPO Banihal Sajad Sarwar and injured SHO Banihal cane-charged the miscreants indulged in stone pelting so as to disperse them, save loss of life and property and to restore law and order situation.
As the miscreants along with others dispersed, the vehicular movement on the highway was restored. The CRPF convoy also headed to its destination.
The injured persons were shifted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Banihal, from where they were later discharged after treatment.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Banihal Police Station and investigation started.
