Shabir inspects Grid Station, FCI store

JAMMU, Dec 19: The Minister of State for Power, CA&PD and Transport, Shabir Ahmed Khan today paid surprise visit to 50 MVA Grid Station Chandak, Poonch and took stock of the functioning of the grid station, which was recently commissioned to strengthen the distribution of power supply in the district.
During the visit the Minister also inspected 3.15 MVA receiving station Chandak, warehouse of Food Corporation of India and CA&PD food stores.
The Minister directed concerned engineers for proper maintenance of the prestigious grid station and said that with the commissioning of this grid station, the power supply in Poonch district improved to a large extent. He also instructed concerned for implementation of grid code to control the load shedding.
The Minister was apprised that adequate stocks of food grains are available in FCI and CA&PD food godowns in the area. He instructed the concerned to ensure proper distribution of monthly ration to the consumers, adding that any complaint in this regard would be viewed seriously inviting action against negligent officials. He also directed concerned to ensure timely verification and distribution of LPG cylinders for convenience of the consumers.
While interacting with the locals, who met the Minister to apprise him about their problems and developmental needs during the tour, the Minister said that providing adequate power to the people of the State was top most priority of the Government.
The Minister said that power infrastructure in Poonch town was also being upgraded at a cost of Rs. 7.12 crore under R-APRDP. He said the power infrastructure of those villages having more than 4000 population in the area would be also upgraded under this programme in 2nd phase, adding that in this regard the DPRs have been formulated and are under submission for Central funding.
The Minister assured the locals that all their genuine demands and developmental needs would be looked into at proper forums. He directed concerned officers to ensure frequent visits to remote villages of the district for on the spot redressal of people’s problems.
