Mir warns action against fertilizer adulteration

JAMMU, Dec 19: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir, today called upon the Law Enforcement Directorate to ensure intensive checking so that distribution of adulterated fertilizer and pesticides is stopped across the State.
While reviewing the working of Law Enforcement Directorate here this morning, the Minister said that strict action would be taken against any distributor or dealer found involved in malpractices as per law.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Agriculture Production, Shaleen Kabra, Director Agriculture, Jammu Ajay Khujaria, Director  Law Enforcement J&K, M.S Kutoo and other senior officers of the department.
The Minister further directed that only those fertilizer and pesticide brands be allowed in the State which have been recommended by the Government of India and SKUAST. He also directed the Agriculture Directors to ensure that their field functionaries work in a close coordination so that the malpractices of spurious fertilizer and pesticides are checked in time before it could damage the farmers crop.
