RAJOURI, June 16:  A major communal clash with the immediate intervention of  district administration was averted in Rajouri  today.
Official sources said that trouble started after some people of one community went for the burial of 3-year-old child at an old grave yard at Talwal village near Rajouri. The members of other community objected to it and said that there are no graveyards and this land belonged to their religious place.
After heated arguments, a clash took place between two sides. They resorted to stone pelting  and also used lathis. The police rushed to the spot and resorted to lathi-charge and  also lobbed tear gas shells on the mob. The explosive situation was brought under control. The ADC, Addl SP and other officers  rushed to the spot and they also talked to both the sides.
Later DC Rajouri, Shahid Iqbal talked to the  both the sides on phone and asked them to maintain calm till he arrives back to Rajouri.
With the intervention of DC Rajouri the matter was resolved  and both the sides agreed to maintain communal harmony.
BJP MLC, Vibodh Gupta also appealed to the people from both the communities to maintain communal harmony and not to fall prey to the mischievous  mongers.
Later,  DC Rajouri and SSP Yougal Manhas resolved the matter and also visited the site. The burial of the child also took place there in the evening.
