JAMMU, June 17: A Photo-Art Exhibition by Amrit Kaur, a Jammu Artist in collaboration with Kala Kendra, Jammu was inaugurated at Master Sansar Chand Art Gallery of Kala Kendra, here.
Prof R D Sharma, Vice- Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest whereas Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Jang S. Verman, senior artist and columnist on art & culture, Ranjeet Kaur and Amrit Kaur also shared the dais.
The Exhibition is being dedicated to Late Harcharan Singh, a veteran Photographer of Jammu on his birth anniversary by his daughter Amrit Kaur, a painter and Photo- artist working in Jammu.
As she shared her photography experiences with her father and has been impressed by his approach and working style, she preferred to celebrate his birthday with a difference. She decided to put up a photo- art show with photographs clicked by him and her, and dedicate the show to her father in his memory.
Twenty four works on various themes like landscape, people and Srinagar Rasa have been displayed in the show. The programme was attended by intellectuals, artists and writers.
While speaking on this occasion Prof. R D Sharma said that it’s a real tribute to her father that she is creating art on his footsteps, keeping her family tradition alive.
In his address Dr Arvinder Singh Amn and Jang S. Verman expressed their views on the art of Amrit Kaur and Late Harcharan Singh. He said that intricacies of Photography are seen in the duo’s Photo-Art works.
