JAMMU, June 19: Thousands of pilgrims have thronged Kheer Bhawani shrine at Tulmulla in district Ganderbal ahead of ‘Zesht Ashtami’, which will be celebrated tomorrow.
The annual pilgrimage to Kheer Bhawani shrine was flagged off from Jammu yesterday in presence of high profile officers, personalities and organizers of the Kheer Bhawani Yatra Committee headed by its Convener Kiran Wattal.
Around 7000 pilgrims have arrived and several thousands of more devotees are likely to arrive tomorrow at the shrine to seek blessings of the deity.
While speaking to the Excelsior, Kiran Wattal, Convener, Kheer Bhawani Yatra Committee said that the Government has made elaborative arrangements for this pilgrimage.
“Transport, security, water and other facilities have been put in place for the smooth conduct of the ‘Zesht Ashtami tomorrow”, he added.
He informed that the devotees reached the shrine safely and the Committee has provided them accommodation, blankets, food and medical facilities, adding that due care will be given to the visited or visiting pilgrims to the shrine.
More organizations like Indian Army, Vivekananda Ashram, Broadway Hotel, Kashmir Hindu Forum and secretariat employees are also providing food and refreshment to the devotees.
He also informed that enroute from Jammu to Srinagar, tea was served to pilgrims at Nagrota and langar arranged by District Administration at Ramban. Light refreshment was also served to pilgrims at Vessu, district Anantnag by PM Package employees.
Kiran Wattal also stated that langer at Kheer Bhawani from morning to evening has been arranged by Swami Viveknanda Ashram, Nagdandi and employees of the Biradari working in the Civil Secretariat for the yatra days.
Meanwhile, Relief Commissioner ML Raina visited the shrine and reviewed the arrangements put in place for the pilgrims. He also interacted with the pilgrims.
