JAMMU, June 19 : As a nationwide programme of Indian Youth Congress (IYC), on the birth day of Congress president, Rahul Gandhi today, Pradesh Youth Congress under the leadership of IYC Secretary Incharge J&K Sheeshpal Singh Keharwala and PYC president Pranav Shagotra organized marathon ‘run for peace and prosperity’.
Hundreds of PYC activists assembled near Press Club, Jammu and started marathon run amidst raising slogans like “Rahul Gandhi Zinda Baad” Rahul Aap Aage Baro, Hum Tumare Saath Hain.”
On reaching PCC headquarters, they were received by PCC president G A Mir and other senior leaders Raman Bhalla, RS Chib, Rajnish Sharma, Manmohan Singh, Pawan Raina, Manjit Singh Jatt, Sanjeev Panda and others.
Speaking on the occasion, GA Mir has appreciated the role of Youth Congress at the national level as well as in the State. He said that the marathon is being organized to raise awareness for issues like unemployment, women’s security, threat to peace and prosperity, besides failure of Modi led NDA Govt. on all fronts and Prime Minister Narendra Modi backed off from all his promises and has created a state of indecision in the country.
PCC chief said that Jammu and Kashmir is the worst affected State during Modi regime in the Centre and PDP-BJP in the State. There is total mess and uncertainty and the people are suffering for want of essential commodities like drinking water, power, ration, medical facilities etc., what to talk of employment and peace.
PYC chief Shagotra and IYC Secretary said that from the day one the BJP led NDA Govt took over the rein of the country, the divisive forces have been activated and the people of all walks of life feel insecure. They said within four years of Modi tule, the unity and integrity of the country is in danger. The youth are waiting for employment opportunity but their wait never ends.
