JAMMU, June 21: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh has called upon the State Administration to expedite the pace of various Centrally sponsored schemes, so that the targets for each of them could be achieved within the timeline stipulated by the Modi Government on all-India basis.
While reviewing the current status of various Central schemes during two different DISHA meetings, held on the same day, for district Kathua and district Reasi, respectively, Dr Jitendra Singh, in particular, laid emphasis on Government of India’s flagship schemes like Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY). He however expressed satisfaction that following the intervention in the monthly PRAGATI Video Conference meeting held by Prime Minister Modi, the “Swachch Bharat” campaign has picked up very appreciably in the last few months.
Dr Jitendra Singh also called for early resolution of the ongoing strike and protest by Anganwadi workers and Patwaris which was also hindering the pace of work of many a Central scheme. Referring to Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), he said, even though the tendering process of the State Government has got delayed for certain reasons, the scheme now seems to have picked up to keep pace with the stipulated timeline.
The Kathua DISHA meeting was attended by all the district officers implementing the Centrally sponsored schemes.At the outset,DDC gave detailed resume of achievements made under each centrally sponsored schemes through Power Point Presentation. Dr Jitendra Singh directed all the concerned officers to create awareness among the people about various Centrally Sponsored Schemes being implemented by the Government of India for the upliftment of poor and weaker section of the society.
He also reviewed the status of construction of bunkers in the district.
At the Reasi meeting, Deputy Commissioner Prasanna Ramaswamy G made Power Point Presentation depicting the achievements under Centrally sponsored scheme.
Dr Jitendra Singh suggested that success stories of these initiatives may be picturised for popularization amongst other beneficiaries who can follow the suit.
