RAJOURI, June 21: Rajouri Police has arrested the main accused involved in merciless beating of a mother-daughter duo, video of which had gone viral on social media.
The accused was arrested from a hideout in Mahreen, under the jurisdiction of Raj Bagh Police Station in Kathua district. He was identified as Pawan Kumar alias Pamma, son of Dawarka Nath, resident of Tandwal, Crusher Morh Rajouri.
A case FIR 307/2018 was registered against him on 13/06/2018 U/S 452/354/325/323/34/RPC after a mother – daughter duo, living at Crusher Morh Rajouri in Tandwal village, reported to Police that were beaten mercilessly by their neighbours over some issue.
Soon after committing the crime, accused had gone absconding after locking their house. Two days back, a video of the incident also went viral on social media.
Yesterday evening, police received a specific input about the main accused hiding in a hideout in Kathua. On the directions of SSP Rajouri and with the help of Kathua police, a team of Rajouri police raided the hideout in the mid of night and arrested the accused when he was trying to escape outside the State. The accused was brought to Rajouri and after legal formalities, has been remanded to Police Custody.
Attempts are going on to arrest other accused named in the FIR.
