JAMMU, June 23: Various senior Congress leaders from J&K State have taken serious note of the remarks of some BJP leaders against veteran Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi  Azad.
Terming Bharatiya Janta Party’s (BJP’s) criticism of Ghulam Nabi  Azad’s statement as uncalled for, the senior Congress leader and former minister Jugal Kishore Sharma strongly condemned the Saffron party’s diatribe against Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, saying that it is just like the pot calling the kettle black.
In a press statement issued here today, senior Congress leader said that  Azad is a responsible citizen of the country, true nationalist and seasoned politician who is always in the forefront of exposing the unholy alliance of the BJP and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) whose atrocious governance of three years has brought the Kashmir Valley into a new phase of turmoil.  Sharma said whatever Azad said was purely in the context of the present situation prevailing in the Valley where strife torn areas are witnessing death and destruction almost on daily basis adding that Azad was only pointing towards the civilian killings and in no way had criticized the anti-militancy operation being carried out by the security forces.
Launching scathing attack on BJP president Amit Shah and Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for making insulting remarks against Ghulam Nabi Azad,  PCC general secretary Abdul Majid Wani asked both leaders of BJP to tender apology before Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress party and before public of India.
” Doubting Ghulam Nabi Azad’s loyalty towards the country is like doubting credentials of all citizens of India. BJP leaders have record of exploiting sentiments of public sometimes on basis of the religion and sometimes doubting loyalty of the Congress Party leaders. They have a very short memory and often forget that the Congress Party has a glorious past.  The BJP leaders have tendency to speak plain lies. The Prime Minister Narender Modi, in his public rally in J&K during J&K Legislative Assembly elections, had openly spoken against dynasty rule of PDP and National Conference in the state. The same BJP, after the election results were declared, did not hesitate a little to form Government in J&K with the same PDP, against whom it’s leaders had given long statements,” Wani added.
Various Congress leaders in a joint statement questioned the strife put forth by BJP against the  statement given by Ghulam Nabi Azad. They said Azad is responsible citizen and true Nationalist who has always exposed  the BJPs and PDPs atrocious planning and management of crisis in Valley. They said from the day BJP has pulled their support from PDP which was totally preplanned and fixed ,BJP is playing circus of vote bank for the next election.     They said Azad as Chief Minister of Jammu And Kashmir  has taken some revolutionary measures to bring socio-economic transformation back on the rails in the state. Many historic decisions were taken by the Azad led Government for the welfare of the people.
The  Congress leaders questioned BJP saying that “Can BJP reply to the act of Union Home Minister that why he has withdrawn cases against 11000 stone palters and not against those who fought for Lord Shiva’s land. What happened to the agitation of Sunderbani, Kalakote and Nowhera for District ? Where is the black money did it reach as Rs 15 lakh in anyone’s account?
Those who joined the statement included  Jahangir Hussain Mir Ex- Dy Chairman Legislative Council, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Ch Gharu Ram, Ashok Sharma, Jagdish Sapolia, Subash Gupta, Master Tasadaq Hussain, Vinod Sharma, Vinod Misra, MK Bhardwaj, Hari Singh, Harbans Lal,  Naresh Sharma, Capt LK Sharma, Zahid Sarfraz and others.
