JAMMU, June 23: Fifty five Government employees have been suspended in Doda, Baramulla and Kupwara districts.
As per official spokesman, going tough against the culture of absenteeism and late coming in Government offices, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bhawani Rakwal today issued suspension orders of 18 officers and officials of different departments in the district as they remained absent from their legitimate duties without prior approval/sanctioned leave from appropriate authority.
The action came after carrying out inspections of various offices in the whole district, on the directions from Governor’s office regarding punctuality in Government offices and the use of biometric attendance system compulsorily for all the employees working in the State.
He informed that the absentees includes Javed Iqbal Mir District Sheep Husbandry Officer Doda, Shamima Begum, Zakir Hussain, Officials of Sheep Husbandry Department, Firdoos Hussain, Gazi Bangroo, Shahnawaz Butt, Chain Lal from Veterinary Department, Shaheena Akhtar AD Handicraft Office Doda, Zahoor Ahmed, Shamshad Begum, Daljeet Singh from Education Department, Sunil Kumar, Rahul Hussain, Shigufta Sehar from PHE Department Thathri, Jia Lal Senior Assistant TSO Office Thathri, Rabia Banoo and Abdul Wahid from BMO Office Assar besides all the officials of Horticulture Development Office Assar.
Meanwhile, DC has ordered an enquiry into the matter and has directed the concerned DDOs to keep the salaries of the officials on with hold with immediate effect till further orders. DC said that the absenteeism culture will be dealt very strictly.
Rakwal further issued directions to all the offices to install Biometric Attendance System by the end of this month, failing which the salaries of the employees of offices without biometric will be kept on hold as has been directed by Finance Department. He also warned the late comers and habitual offenders to be in office in time or be ready for action as warranted under law, he stated.
Meanwhile, 37 Government employees were suspended for remaining absent from duty in Kupwara and Baramulla districts.
The spokesman stated that in order to ensure transparency in the working system and improve work culture in Government offices, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan, today directed all Deputy Commissioners to constitute squads for conducting surprise checks of different offices to ascertain the attendance of officials and employees.
“In order to improve the work culture and punctuality in the Government offices, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir constituted a team of officers to check attendance of employees in the district on regular basis” he said, adding that the team paid a surprise visit to many offices including Chief Medical Office (CMO) Kupwara, Block Medical Office Kupwara, X-En PHE Kupwara, X-En I&FC Kupwara, Block Development Office Kupwara and office of REW Kupwara to check attendance of employees.
During the perusal of attendance register, he said 20 employees of these offices were found unauthorisedly absent from their duties and were placed under suspension.
He said the concerned officers have been directed to deduct one day’s salary for absence from duties of the employees and credit the same to the account of District Red Cross Society.
DC Kupwara said strict action as per the law should be initiated against the employees found unauthorisedly absent from their duties.
The spokesman added that Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Baramulla Farooq Ahmad Baba inspected various Government offices during which 17 employees of different departments were found unauthorisedly absent from their duties and have been suspended accordingly.
