JAMMU, June 25: Jhajjar Kotli police under ‘Operation Kamdhenu’ arrested a driver and his associate for smuggling bovines and rescued 15 cattle from their possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station laid a naka at Suketar and intercepted a Srinagar bound truck bearing registration number JK19-5111.
During checking, police rescued 15 cattle from the vehicle and arrested the driver along with his associate.
The arrested persons have been identified as Nasir Ahmed, son of Ghulam Nabi and Tariq Ahmed, son of Abdul Rashid, both residents of tehsil Banihal, district Ramban.
To dodge the police, the accused had covered the truck with plastic sheet so as to show transportation of ration to the valley.
A case under FIR Number 58/18 under Sections 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Ajay Singh Chib made the arrest under supervision of SDPO Nagrota Yashbir Singh and SP Rural Dushyant Sharma.
