Villagers protest for school classrooms, infrastructure

UDHAMPUR, June 28: The students of Government Middle School (GMS) Upper Jakhed, Zone Dudu- Basant Garh and locals today protested demanding additional classroom and the required infrastructure in the school.
They informed that the Government Primary School (GPS) Upper Jakhed Zone Dudu Basant Garh was upgraded as the Middle School in 2010 but infrastructure for the same was not provided till date. There are about 80 students in this school but the classrooms are just two and during rains, these rooms get filled with water, they added.
Further, the villagers said, there has been no proper sitting arrangements for the students, who are also deprived of curricular activities and games because of no infrastructure there.
ZEPO Dudu, Gulam Hasan Keanth, said that the matter of additional classroom and required infrastructure for this school has been taken up with the higher authorities and department was hopeful that the issue would be redressed at appropriate time.
