JAMMU, June 28: The Punjab Government established Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) has opened its Counselling and Admission Centre (CAC) at Jammu, which was inaugurated by MRSPTU, Vice Chancellor, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar at an impressive function held at Gandhi Nagar here.
MRSPTU is first Government Technical University of Punjab registered under Section 2(f) and 12B of University Grants Commission (UGC) making it eligible for liberal central grants. The CAC at Jammu is aimed to facilitate and provide an opportunity to the students of Jammu & Kashmir realizing their dreams to pursue quality higher technical education at premier institutions in Punjab.
While addressing the gathering, Dr Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, who has also served as Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University, said that the mission of MRSPTU is to provide a conducive and inspiring environment for promoting excellence and advancement in technology, scientific education and research by fostering freedom, empowerment, commitment, unleashing creativity and innovation.
The university has collaboration with top global universities like Thompson Rivers University (Canada), Wayne State University (USA), Synergy University (Russia), other famous foreign Universities for credit transfer study paving the way for opening doors wide open for the brilliant students aspiring to undertake study abroad. Beside, there has been strong partnership with prominent corporate and industrial houses.
MRSPTU, Registrar, Dr Jasbir Singh Hundal said that Jammu CAC of the University will provide a golden opportunity to the students of far flung areas of Jammu Kashmir craving for world class quality technical education. He said, three decade old Punjab Government established premier Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCCET) is part of the University Campus.
College Development Council, Director, Dr Ashok Kumar Goel said that more than 75 Constituent and Affiliated Premier Technical Institutes were offering wide array of world class 78 courses in Pharmacy, Engineering, Sciences, Architecture, Management Applied Sciences, Computer Applications, Food Technology and Skill Certificate courses etc. Students can avail various Scholarship schemes of Government and Chief Minister scholarship for meritorious students, he informed. “We also pledge to make Higher Technical Education accessible to needy and economically weaker section students,” he added.
Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA-MRSPTU), Convener, Devinder Pal Singh assured to provide all support to the prestigious university for quality education.
Prominent among others, present on the occasion, include Finance Officer Subash Bansal, Public Relations Officer, Harjinder Sidhu, Training and Placement Officer, Rajesh Gupta and Prof. Devinder Sharma of Jammu.
